Kino Utopia has had a long history of glory behind it. It appears like the ghost of all the cinemas that once inspired
minds with great ideas, reported historic landmark events and looked to the future with courage. Now it exists beyond time and space as the last projections appear in it. The past, the future and the present interpenetrate here. It is also impossible to say whether what we are watching has happened in our world or in some alternative reality.
Kino Utopia is an exhibition which consists of films and photographs in the form of video projections. Wroclaw Central Station, where cinema station stands for over half a century, is the perfect place to reflect on the perception of time. Film and photography give us the opportunity to move around in a non-linear way, let us look at the history and ideas of the future in a fuller, more profound way. They reveal to us the relationships of times and places that can not be seen from only one point of view. Kino Utopia is also an attempt to think whether there is still room for great ideas that set milestones and ambitious tasks? Is it still worth trying to look for alternatives to the current economic, cultural and social systems after trying to put them into practice? Is the progress in which we believe so is not dubious without ideas that we could navigate?
We invite you to Kino Utopia, a journey through time and out of time, to places and non-places to return to the past and future.
