Anna Orłowska. Otherworlds (Hidden Room)
Inside the little old wooden church, there is a room – a multielement installation by artist Anna Orłowska, accompanying her exhibition Otherworlds at BWA Wrocław Główny Gallery.
Otherworlds by Anna Orłowska represents a step into the depths of her own past and an account of this seductive journey. Born and based in Silesia, the artist takes us to the old village of Sandowitz, today renamed Żędowice, home to a watermill. Around the mill orbit the successive family generations of Orłowska’s family. Their history is intertwined with the water, the forests, and bog iron – a deposit used since prehistoric times for iron smelting. Due to this, Otherworlds takes on a rusty colour. The guide to the Otherworlds is the soothing voice of the narrator-medium. The curator of the exhibition is Katarzyna Roj.
