The pandemic caused (if not imposed) a digital transformation in many areas, including culture and art. The promise brought by the early Internet is resonating anew: an egalitarian, inclusive, accessible, public, shared space. However, in practice technologies are neither inclusive nor – after a year with the pandemic – exciting. The paradox of new media (“what’s new will soon be obsolete”) meets the digital fatigue of months-long online communication.
The series of four Virtual Office online workshops refers to four respective BWA exhibitions and various technologies/tools: multimedia stories, audio, artificial intelligence and augmented reality.
Each workshop consisted of a theoretical part – prepared by the curator, Anna Desponds – and a practical one, presented by invited guests. Together with the participants and under the supervision of the four moderators, we attempted a closer look at solutions which might allow a broader exhibition perspective, expanding it to include digital space and experimentation with different tools or media.
The workshops resulted in a digital mind map presenting themes brought up during the meetings.

The activity was part of the project Common Aspirations Office. Co-financed by the Ministry of Culture, National Heritage and Sport, Culture Promotion Fund. Co-financed by the Municipality of Wrocław.
