Ala Savashevich. Bus Stop Gallery
Bus Stop Gallery is Ali Savashevich’s latest research project. The artist visited villages near Wroclaw, including Czernica, Łany, Kamieniec Wrocławski, Ratowice and Krzyków, in order to look at communication and cultural exclusion.
During her travels, she was especially interested in female inhabitants of smaller towns she met at bus stops. The artist created mini-exhibitions with artworks by Jakub Jakubowicz, Liliana Zeic and Jagoda Dobecka, turning bus shelters into places for receiving art. She filled the long wait for public transport that connects with the world with a conversation about art, life, exclusion, bodies and rights.
The exhibition presents documentation of the process: interviews in the form of audio works, as well as film and photographic records. In the interviews, artworks become starting points for stories, and the interviewees themselves confirm that art can be received by anyone, as long as they have the opportunity to interact with it.
