Curator-led and artist-led tour of the Gothic Fever exhibition 

Join us for a special guided tour of the “Gothic Fever” exhibition as part of the 26th TAURON New Horizons International Film Festival. Let’s explore together how the gothic genre serves as a versatile framework for expressing rebellion, discovering one’s identity, and commenting on reality. We’ll see what connects the sensual fervor of the South with our local penchant for spiritual speculation.

,,Gothic Fever” is an exhibition drawn to the darkness pooling between the glare of two suns. One blazes over Latin America; the other will scorch Wrocław. As part of the Art Scene program of the 26th TAURON New Horizons International Film Festival, we will expand the geography of gothic sensibility. Its tropical inflections will refract like rays through the works of Polish artists, revealing both differences and affinities. Gothic Fever will infect all, injecting the desire to live on one’s own terms.

The day after the opening, we invite you to a multi-voiced discussion within the “Gothic Fever” exhibition space. This is your only chance to experience the exhibition in its entirety while listening to a direct dialogue between the entire curatorial team and invited artists. We’ll hear about contemporary variations on this dark tradition, which is evolving today under the influence of technology, genre cinema, video games, and pop culture. It will be an open space for discussion about the theatricalization of life and how playing with horror and darkness helps us establish our own rules for survival.
